MCP server

I’m coming from YNAB like many other folks. Before trying ZeroSum, I gave Lunch Money a shot. One thing that really stood out to me was the option to connect to an AI using an MCP. This allowed me to work directly with an AI to discuss my budget and even bulk modify my budget and plan. While this is definitely not a dealbreaker(I really love what I see with zero sum!), it would be very nice to have.

I’m going to embarrass myself and ask what an MCP is?

Model Context Protocol (MCP) (likely what you’re seeing) A standard for connecting AI systems to external tools, data sources, or services Think of it as a plug-and-play interface that lets an AI model securely access: APIs databases files enterprise systems Often implemented as an MCP server, which exposes capabilities/tools the AI can use 👉 In simple terms: MCP = a way for AI to “talk to” other systems in a structured, controlled way.

Thank you - makes sense. Not for me at this stage. But who knows in the future?

Noted John. I will keep it in mind if enough demand. I also have the idea to have an API so you could technically automate stuff, import transactions from where you want like Apple shortcuts etc :)
